Check the Battery Health of Your MacBook
For a quick check of your MacBook’s battery health follow the below steps:
- To view your battery’s condition, press and hold the Option key and click the battery icon in the menu bar. For macOS Big Sur you can directly click on the battery icon in the menu bar. It will show the condition of the battery as Normal or Service Recommended.
- Normal: The battery functioning normally.
- Service Recommended: The battery is performing normally, but its ability to hold a charge is less than when it was new. You may want to consider replacing the battery.

To check the battery of your MacBook in detail, follow the below steps:
- Choose the Apple menu and click on About This Mac.
- This will open an overview window of your mac. To see the information in detail, click on the System Report button.
- Here you will find the overview and detailed pieces of information on Hardware, Networks and Software by clicking on relevant items in the left panel. Expand the Hardware and click on Power, it will show you all details about the battery.
- In my case here it is showing the battery health as normal and the cycle count is 845.
