Upgrade VM Compatibility option is grayed out

Problem

I need to Upgrade the VM Compatibility for a virtual machine on VMware ESXi. But when I tried, found that the Upgrade VM Compatibility option is greyed out as shown in the screenshot below.

Reason

If the Upgrade VM Compatibility option is greyed out then it means either the VM compatibility level is already upgraded or VM is started (powered on).

Solution

Shutdown or power off the virtual machine after that Upgrade VM Compatibility will be enabled.
