To crop a picture on macOS with the preview tool follow the steps given below. Preview is an in-built tool in macOS to view the pictures.

Open the picture that you want to edit in the preview app on macOS.
Click on the Show Markup Toolbar button, it will open a toolbar for the different types of selections.
Now select the Rectangular Section from selection tools, the default selection option is rectangular if you want to change it then you may change it to Elliptical or Lasso selection.
Select the area which you want to crop.
Click on the Crop button, or you may also use the keyboard shortcut Command+K to crop the picture.
Go to File and save the cropped picture, or you may also use the keyboard shortcut Command+S.
